What is Marriage?

Marriage is a sacrament that signifies a lifelong union between a man and a woman. It requires specific preparations and is characterized by vows, emphasizing unity and indissolubility. The union is seen as a partnership with God, open to procreation and family life, founded on fidelity and commitment. It is a sacred covenant deeply rooted in faith and love.

Marriage Preparation

The Catholic Church joyfully celebrates the Sacrament of Marriage as a sacred covenant between a man and a woman. To be married in the Church, at least one person must be a baptized Catholic. If the other person is not baptized or is of another faith, the Church can grant special permission so the couple may still marry in the Church. Pre-marital counseling is required, as is a civil marriage license. The ceremony will take place in a Catholic church, and couples must provide necessary documentation and meet with a priest or deacon. The marriage must adhere to the sacramental nature of the Catholic Church and its teachings on marriage.

Marriage preparation will begin 9 months prior to the wedding date. Please contact the parish office, 316-788-5525 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., for more information.
