Athletic coaches – are needed for basketball (6 teams - girls and boys, 6th, 7th & 8th grade); cheerleading (one team – 7th & 8th combined), volleyball (3 teams – 6th, 7th, & 8th); track and Cross Country. Coaches must be certified through the Catholic Schools Activity League and have VIRTUS training.  Seasonal. 

Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) – assists parents in understanding and fulfilling their roles as Catholic school parents, provides a network for action on public policy issues and assists in providing for the school’s material needs. 

Office aide –Run copies, grade papers, read tests to students, answer phone. Note: Requires a high degree of confidentiality ½ day, every other week. 

Teacher’s Aide – Assist teachers with bulletin boards, and other non-instructional duties.

Recess monitor – Teachers and paraprofessionals are on duty; you provide additional adult supervision, or help organize an occasional game. 

School Kitchen – Serving lunch, running dishwasher, helping to prepare food. 

Student Tutors – Work with students, listen to them read, review basic math facts, assist with homework.

History Day – Assist Ms. Gumm in helping students prepare for this February contest.

International Week – Assist Ms. Gumm in helping students prepare for this activity, and help with set-up and put class- rooms back to order. Held in December.

Room parents – Organize class parties and other activities in cooperation with the teacher.

Food preparation – Assist in preparing food for teachers for in-service days.

Scholar Bowl/Battle of the Books/Religion Bowl – Moderators, judges, classroom organizers, hallway monitors, 3:30-6:30 pm for events.

Volunteer during home volleyball or basketball games 

  • Building supervisor: monitors crowds, opens and locks up, troubleshoots if there is a Games are held on Saturdays. ½ day or full day.
  • Set up for volleyball and basketball games: on Friday afternoon/evening
  • Concession Stand: Work St. Mary-hosted basketball or volleyball games.
  • Scorekeepers, basketball and volleyball games (paid)
  • Line Judges for volleyball games.

Fundraising team – Work with PTO on annual fundraisers and events (Trash bag sales, Turkey Bingo, Craft Fair).

Health Days – Assist with vision and hearing screenings.

Picture Days – Assist with picture days.

Pizza Days – Assist with pizza reward days.

Aluminum Cans – Pick up recycled cans from collection area at back of school monthly and take to recycling company. Money goes to sports program.

Morning/Afternoon Drop off Supervision – Help direct traffic to pull up, assist the younger children into building in morning, to parents’ cars in afternoon. 

Gym Set-up – set-up furniture, roll out gym-floor cover and/ or set up dance floor for special school or parish events. Set- up includes arranging tables and chairs for special events such as Turkey Bingo, Craft Fair, Thanksgiving or Christmas lunches, music programs, DARE Culmination, weddings, etc.

Ground Keeping – Weeding gardens around front of build- ings, or cleaning playground. Snow Removal by shovelling sidewalks in front of school and church. One time events, such as trimming trees, clearing brush for mowing, installing fence, or other projects.

Please remember to keep school information confidential and maintain a professional appearance. All school volunteers, including field trip drivers and chaperones, must complete VIRTUS training. During school hours, we kindly ask that volunteers refrain from bringing children with them, except for assisting with classroom parties.
